Centrica Energy

I am General Counsel for Centrica Energy, the trading arm of Centrica plc, leading a team of over 40 lawyers, compliance officers and regulator affairs advisors in the UK, Europe and North America. We are a global trading business trading power, gas, liquified natural gas and green certificates, connecting energy producers, suppliers and offtakers in wholesale energy markets.

I joined Centrica in 2011 from private practice, training at Jones Day in London, and specialising in cross-border M&A and joint ventures. Starting as legal counsel supporting the business development team in Upstream, I also undertook various secondments internally, to Corporate, Treasury and Secretariat, before moving to Centrica Energy in 2016, and becoming General Counsel in 2019.

In addition to my leadership role, I also provide executive sponsorship for Centrica Energy’s DEI and Charities & Volunteering initiatives. I first heard Dan speak on the O Shaped at a conference years ago, when he was at Network Rail, and was immediately drawn to its core attributes, thinking “this is common sense but why is the legal profession so far removed from it?”.

Centrica’s in-house legal team is very committed to ensuring that our internal lawyers consistently work with our business stakeholders in line with the O, and holding our external counsel to account on their commitment to their engagement with us in the same way. Having been Centrica’s O Shaped Sponsor for the past 2 years, I’m absolutely delighted to have been added to the O List 2025.
