The O Shaped Mindset

The O Shaped Mindset is the engine which drives O Shaped performance. Whether on their own or in powerful combination, the 5 Os encourage and challenge us to take a different approach to how we work as legal professionals. It’s a mindset that strives for balanced optimism over cautious pessimism, that embraces change and innovation and which fosters a culture of supportive feedback and transparency.

The 5 Os may read like nothing more than commonsense. Perhaps that’s true, but, as we say: “commonsense isn’t always common practice”. Obvious though it may be, adopting an O Shaped Mindset in a deliberate and purposeful way is, quite simply, transformational.

The O Shaped Attributes

The O Shaped Attributes are a valuable framework in which to explore a more O Shaped approach to our work. Developed in collaboration with leaders from across the profession, the O Shaped Attributes enable us to build better relationships, create (and demonstrate!) the value of our contribution and to be adaptable to the ever-changing environment of the modern legal professional.

 

The O Shaped Attributes can be used as a prompt, to remind us of our strengths and our opportunities to develop. They can also be embedded in more formal programmes of personal development and systems of performance review. When used in this way, the O Shaped Attributes can deliver a systemic change to individual and team performance.
