Arunn Thiruchelvam
Arunn is a London-based disputes lawyer working across civil fraud, commercial litigation, sovereign disputes, and cross-border enforcement. Having trained and qualified in a specialist disputes practice, he has experience working on complex, high-pressure matters that require clear judgment and collaboration across jurisdictions, with a focus on delivering practical outcomes for clients.
Alongside his legal practice, Arunn is a founding member of the Association of British Tamil Lawyers (ABTL), which he has helped to build and lead since its inception in 2022. ABTL aims to connect professionals and students through shared culture and heritage, creating a supportive network in which individuals can see themselves as part of a wider professional community. Following a period of consolidation, ABTL relaunched in 2026 with a renewed focus on mentoring, professional development, and community-building. Its flagship mentoring programme has delivered three successful rounds, supporting around 20 focused mentor-mentee pairings, alongside lectures and workshops designed to bring professionals together and support the next generation of lawyers.
Arunn is motivated by the belief that the legal profession flourishes when people are developed in a well-rounded way - technically, intellectually, and humanly. He is particularly interested in how lawyers can combine rigour with empathy, how culture can be a source of connection and confidence, and how the way legal services are delivered shapes outcomes for clients, colleagues, and those entering the profession.
Through his practice and community work, Arunn seeks to contribute to a legal profession that is collaborative, future-fit, and grounded in both excellence and humanity.
