Carly is a Partner in the Construction & Engineering team at Walker Morris LLP in Leeds. With a reputation for focusing on pragmatic commercial solutions. Carly was named a Next Generation Partner by Legal 500, who refer to her “exceptional ability to analyse the options available and find a way through difficult negotiations”.
As a mixed-race, working-class female, navigating a career in law, Carly felt like an outsider from the outset. Despite these challenges, Carly has overcome every obstacle before her. Carly secured her promotion to partner at Walker Morris at just eight years qualified at the age of 34. She's a true inspiration to Walker Morris fee earners and Carly dedicates a lot of time talking with junior lawyers and aspiring lawyers one to one, in small groups and at formal events to show them that they too can succeed irrespective of their background.
Rather than changing to fit in with the traditional stereotype of what a lawyer should look and sound like Carly has embraced her differences which she sees as allowing her to approach problems from a unique perspective for her clients in an innovative original way.
Carly is a Diversity Champion, a mental health first aider, an assessor for Graduate Recruitment and a mentor both within Walker Morris and externally. She works hard to improve racial diversity and inclusion in the firm as well as creating opportunities for others to thrive.
