Emma works as General Counsel at Mina, a Sheffield-based tech startup specialising in payment solutions for electric vehicles. Following an inspiring client secondment during her training contract at Linklaters, she transitioned in-house. Her career path took her from Barclays to Condé Nast before she decided to go back "up north" during the pandemic.
Hailing from a former mining town in South Yorkshire and being the first in her family to attend university, Emma is incredibly passionate about social mobility. Her dedication to diversity and inclusion has garnered recognition, earning her the Rising Star award at the Women and Diversity Awards and the In-House Lawyer of the Year title at the 2023 Yorkshire Legal Awards.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Emma is deeply involved in giving back to her community. She regularly offers her time to mentor students at local schools and universities alongside being a volunteer with the Social Mobility Foundation. She has also championed a "Work Experience Pledge" at Mina, ensuring that a minimum of 50% of work experience opportunities reach individuals who are underrepresented in the field.
Within Mina, Emma has been instrumental in advancing policies which foster inclusivity and equity in the workplace. Perhaps most notably, she championed the implementation of a menopause policy, a pregnancy loss policy, and a "time off for loved ones" policy, and she's always on the look out for new opportunities to do some good in the world.
