Paula has worn many hats throughout her career in the law – as a practising lawyer in the City, learning & development consultant, law firm head of recruitment and then in-house career coach.
Over the years, she has worked with some of the world’s most reputable global law firms – Magic and Silver Circle, US and boutique - from recruiting and supervising trainees, helping lawyers to establish their careers and position themselves for promotion, through to supporting senior leaders to develop their presence and impact, and to build high-performing teams.
Now, as the Career Coach for Lawyers, Paula coaches legal professionals in private practice, in-house and the public sector to find purpose and satisfaction in their work. She too has struggled with career frustration, a lack of sponsorship and burnout and is now determined to help as many lawyers as possible to find their authentic voice as they build their careers and influence others in the profession and beyond.
Having built three businesses from scratch, Paula shares her entrepreneurial approach to career development to help her clients become more O-shaped.
To sum up her approach, Paula believes that the key to bringing about lasting change is to open up the fixed mindset that pervades the law. She says:
