Heriot Brown

Scott is a "recovering lawyer," having worked as a Corporate Lawyer for six years before transitioning into recruitment. Since founding Heriot Brown, he has been dedicated to redefining legal recruitment.

Driven by a passion to infuse human elements into the legal profession, Heriot Brown's mission is to provide fulfilling careers for everyone involved with the business - clients, candidates, and employees.

At the core of Scott's approach is an understanding of the challenges faced by lawyers. He strives to extend a supportive hand to anyone in need. This is reflected in Heriot Brown's recruitment strategies, which focus solely on the in-house legal market—a career choice he believes offers more rounded rewards for legal professionals.

Scott is the creator and host of the "Lessons I Learned in Law" podcast. The Podcast allows lawyers to share their journeys and real-life success stories, reaching over 10,000 listeners globally. Heriot Brown is committed to the wider in-house legal community, aiming to promote the profession and champion its successes. The company organizes an annual General Counsel Burns Supper, raising substantial funds for charity.

Heriot Brown ensures that all lawyers they place are enrolled in a career coaching program run by an independent coach, aiding their transition into new roles.

Internally, the principle of "fulfilling careers" extends to Heriot Brown's employees. Scott focuses on sustainable growth for the business, endeavoring to create a nurturing and inclusive workplace. He advocates for progressive policies, including market-leading parental leave, and supports both personal and professional growth.
