Amy Marren

BPP

I’m Amy Marren, a former British Paralympic swimmer who is now pursuing a career in law. I started swimming at a young age and competed internationally from my early teens. I had the opportunity to represent Great Britain in various competitions, including the 2016 Rio Paralympics, from which I came home with a Bronze medal.

After starting University, I quickly found that I wasn’t best suited to the traditional University route and instead I decided to pursue a legal apprenticeship. I started my Paralegal apprenticeship in September 2017, and I’m currently working toward qualifying as a solicitor via the Solicitor apprenticeship. Both apprenticeships gave me the unique opportunity to apply the focus and determination I developed in sport to this new chapter in my life.

In recognition of my contributions to apprenticeships and further education, I was immensely honoured to receive an MBE in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours list. This award means a great deal to me, as it reflects the hard work and support I’ve received from so many along the way.

Whilst swimming was, and always will be an important part of my journey, I’m now focused on my legal career and excited for the challenges that lie ahead.
